Nokia: Market changes forcing hand on legal issues
Nokia contends its recent lawsuits targeting Apple, LG and Samsung and others reflect the changing, increasingly competitive nature of the wireless industry. Nokia, no stranger to litigation (see its long-running, now-settled feud with Qualcomm), argues its renewed emphasis on the courtroom is due to the emergence of new industry players as well as the convergence of wireless with the mobile Internet and other industries–and not because of its recent financial failings. “The litigation is not the driver,” Louise Pentland, Nokia’s chief legal officer, told the New York Times. “It is the business environment that has changed.” Article
